Hospice Physiotherapist
Job Details
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist with excellent skills in rehabilitation for patients with stroke and neurological conditions to work as an autonomous practitioner at a charity hospice in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. The successful applicant will be supported by Therapy Africa, a UK based NGO, to provide specialist palliative physiotherapy assessment and management to patients receiving care in this charity funded hospice, which offers a safe home, support and care to patients residing there.
This is a part-time, freelance, three month, contract, working 1 day (8 hours) per week.
The Physiotherapist role will be instrumental in ensuring that this home meets this increasing demand from its residents. The post holder will:

Manage a clinical caseload of palliative patients

Provide a timely and comprehensive physiotherapy assessment of new and existing patients at the hospice

Lead and develop empowering patient focused therapeutic groups

Contribute to the education and development of the staff and volunteers at the hospice

Be an energetic, self-starter with a passion for therapeutic care

Comfortable in a Hospice environment treating both male & female patients.

Confident, self-managing, focused and dedicated to furthering the goals of the Hospice and the charity.

Ability to work well on their own in a complex and diverse environment.

Adapt effectively to organisational variation, culture and demands.
